This a redo on an old piece I did 3 years ago. There were certain elements I liked in the original but overall I hated the anatomy and especially hated the face.
So I redid it with a slightly more dynamic pose and took special care on painting the face.
However, I'm wondering if I lost some element of 'spark' the original had.
What do you think? The older illustration is here .
sorry not eloquent enough for a critique i can only say that you could have used the "Blood eagle" execution as a inspiration for the design behind her.
Am I allowed to say that this is the best Elektra piece I've ever seen? Yep, that's right, I said it. I am in absolute... awe of how Elektra looks here. There's this coldness to her eyes that almost sends a chill down my spine. I feel as if she's going to step out of my computer monitor and slash my throat open. Yikes! But that expressiveness is amazing! The shading beneath her stone cold eyes is fantastic and I feel the pose really heightens the overall tone of the piece. It's strong, bold but not hyper-sexualized. She looks tough. You've drawn her sais really well too. Although, I think my favourite aspect of this piece is the blood spatters and the bloodied wings behind her. It's just so... words can't describe how cool it is!
Elektra is my all time favorite comic character, has been since the 4th grade. A friend of mine sent me this picture a few months ago. It has been my background on my computer ever since. It has also become a permanent part of my arm. Last night I had this tattooed on my right arm.
